Carman Skeehan is a glass artist and maker, living in Adelaide, South Australia. Having completed the Jam Factory associate program in 2023, Carman has hit a milestone in her work, elevating her artistic practice. 
Guided by the meticulous creative process, Carman centres her work on the art of storytelling through glass, exploring the intersection of narrative and materials. 
Skeehan draws inspiration from early oil paintings and still lifes, creating a unique likeness in glass materials. Her work is an exploration of these elements, seamlessly blending them to create unique and compelling pieces of art.


THE GAFFER

In addition to her artistic practice, Skeehan is dedicated to becoming a full-time professional Gaffer.
A Gaffer is the lead glassblower in a studio, responsible for overseeing the process, making key decisions, and ensuring the highest quality outcomes. It is a highly respected role that represents mastery and leadership in glassblowing.
Carman regularly works as a Gaffer, producing glassworks for artists and clients with precision and creativity. Her practice is defined by careful planning, research, and technical expertise, resulting in pieces that are both functional and artistically significant.
Her commitment to this path includes continuous learning and professional development. By refining her skills and staying current with techniques and trends, she aims to offer exceptional service and help clients realise their artistic and production goals.
